It's my (ultimate blog) party, and I'll cry if I want to

"Every party has a pooper, that's why we invited you. Party pooper. Party pooper."

Ultimate Blog Party 2012

I am sick. I am pretty sure that it is the nastiest sinus infection I have ever had. It may be strep, but I don't think so because if I have run a temp, it has been mild. And my doctor, WebMD, has suggested viral infection.

This illness has wreaked havoc on my weekend, the one where I actually had plans. Church directory pictures (ugh - I think I still have to get those done. It will be reminiscent of jr. high yearbook photos, I am sure.) Late breakfast with a friend -postponed.  Girls Night Out/going away party for a friend - should not attend.

But here I am - deciding to at least attend the Ultimate Blog Party. Here I can party at 6:30 AM with my penguin flannel pajamas and my citrus-green tea. I know how to live it up.

So a little about me, UBP-ers. I am thirty-one. I am sometimes sweet and reflective, and sometimes I tell it like it is with a dose of sarcasm.  No matter what, I am always authentic. That bothers some people, but I figure, reading my blog is a choice. At least until I become President in 2016. Then it will be mandated.

I have been married for seven years. The Hubs is a counselor, but he is starting a nursing program this fall.  This will enable me to continue being a stay-at-home mom (which I love and which IS work) in this double-income society of ours. I have two sweet boys - Bubby will be three in May and Bugaboo is sixteen months.  They were both preemies.  Bugaboo is having some delays - cognitively, verbally, and with his motor skills, so we are trying to figure that out.

I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest.I love the ideas on there. I hate that I never have the ingredients (or motivation) to make the recipes and that I lack the skills (and patience) to craft. Sill, I pin away. I love to read when I have the time, and check out multiple library books.  My fine-paying has decreased since the advent of the online notification system.  I love movies, too. There hasn't been much on tv lately that has caught my eye (or that I've even had the time to watch), but I did enjoy watching the first two seasons of Downton Abbey with my mom over Spring Break.

I'm off now to make a new cup of tea (though what I really like to drink are iced caramel macchiatos) and open a new box of Kleenex. Hope to see you again once I am back to normal!

  1. This was fun to read! And now I know your fave Starbucks drink!

Where did you find the Downton Abbey seasons?

I'm sorry you're sick and that the weekend plans are a bust!

    1. I have three seasons at Starbucks - pumpkin season, caramel machiatto (hot) season, and iced season. :) Downton Abbey Season one was on my mom's Netflix when I went up to see her. Then she went out and bought Season Two. We watched two seasons in less than a week (and she was working that week). The first episode was so-so, but I love the characters, the clothes, the accents. 1920s/30s England.

  2. I sure hope you are feeling better soon. I am just new to the blogging world and Pinterest. I must say pinning can be quite addictive.

Visiting you from the Ultimate Blog Party. Woohoo!

    1. Pinning IS addictive. I spent quite a bit of time with it last summer thanks to my friend, Danavee (above), telling me about it.

  4. UBP is super fun. Glad you joined the party.

    Downton Abbey is insane. INSANE.
Hope you feel better. We had a similar cold last weekend (EASTER) and I still feel mildly poopy.

    1. I have done the party in previous years - almost didn't b/c I feel so poopy. But I need something to do between naps since The Hubs is taking care of the kids today. :)
I am very ready for Season Three.

  5. If you ran for president in 2016 with a platform that included mandatory sick days for moms (or at least sick pay so we can hire someone else to watch our kids while we take "time off" to indulge in our suffering) I think you could win by a landslide :) Hope you're feeling better.

    1. Yes, sick pay! (But who would pay us?? Ah, details to figure out later, haha.) I stopped by your site, but the comment box wasn't working for me, even after a few tries. Anyhoo - it cracked me up, your list. I especially need Girls Night Out for my sanitiy and #5 - My closets - I had so many goals when I became a SAHM - the only one I have met consistently is being present for my kids. Guess that's the best one, right?

  6. Hope you start feeling better soon. No fun to feel like junk! I think you sound just like me with the whole love/hate pinterest thing and the library fine thing. I can't even use my card right now due to the fines. My husband is about to impose a library ban on me for it. Ugh!

Anyway, hope you have a great week hopping and will stop by and say hi when you get a chance!

  10. You are a hoot, as we say down here in the South. Thank you for your nice comment over at Team Skelley. I hope that you are feeling better, I know what it is like--I just finished a round of antibiotics for a wicked bacterial infection. Lame. Newest follower. :D

    1. I feel better now that I know what I am dealing with ...sinus and ear infection. Started penicillin today so hoping for the best. I love the phrase "You are a hoot!" I use it, even though I am a Yankee. My grandpa always referred to himself as a hillbilly, so it must have rubbed off a little on me. Thanks for stopping by!
