So I am trying to read a lot about delivery and babyhood/parenting a baby. I know what to do with a kid when he/she is a little older, but I am pretty clueless on the baby phase except for my child development classes in college. Like I think I mentioned before, I really want to have a natural childbirth - no meds - if at all possible.
I am currently reading a book on the Bradley Method to be informed about a way to go natural, and I am also reading the book The Secrets of the Baby Whisperer (because it just intrigued me - I'm not sure if I agree or disagree with it yet). I have the "What to Expect" books and for fun I have read "The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy" because it is hillarious (though due to the sarcasm is on the negative side of the whole pregnancy experience).
All of this to say--
If anyone can recommend books they have read about giving birth and what to do with a baby the first few months/year of his/her life, I would love to be informed what they are. I am interested in other natural methods of child birth besides the Bradley method. I am not interested in parenting books which are advocate an extremely rigid schedule. (Mike continues to remind me of the five Bs of parenting - they don't involve a rigid schedule.) Of course I realize a lot of parenting comes down to common sense and what will work best for M, me and Baby Mac - but as a teacher I read a wide variety of texts to improve my teaching and keep current, so I feel I should as a parent-to-be. A couple people have given me ideas already, but you can post your suggestions on here or just email me/facebook me.
Also, coming soon.....
Hubby and I are going to narrow down our name lists and come up with a compromise list. Stay tuned.
